Est. 1943 — Over 75 Years of Excellence
Trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining trees. We follow ANSI standards and bring over three generations of proper tree care experience.
About Our Company
Behunin Horticulture was established in 1943 by J. Leland Behunin, who became recognized throughout Utah for his horticultural expertise after graduating from The Davey Institute of Tree Surgery in Kent, Ohio.
Leland specialized in arbor care, developing innovative pruning systems and pioneering nutrient injection techniques for diseased trees. He maintained landscapes for government buildings, businesses, and private residences along the Wasatch Front.
Benjamin Behunin Sr. took over in the late 1960s and earned a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture from Brigham Young University. Today, Ben S. Behunin continues the family legacy as a certified arborist and registered tree appraiser, serving on the Community Forest Council and Riverton Tree Board.

Expertise You Can Trust
An arborist is an individual trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining individual trees. ISA Certification is a voluntary, non-governmental process that provides a measurable assessment of an individual's knowledge and competence required to provide proper tree care.
Certified arborists must continue their education to maintain certification, ensuring they stay current with the latest arboriculture techniques and research.
